Identity & Business Proof

1. Identity Proof like Passport, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Voter ID or Ration card for the Promoters with Photo of Person authorised to file IE Code application.

2. Incase of Legal entity or registered body, then Partnership deed or Incorporation Certificate or registration Certificate is required

Cancelled Cheque Copy

1. Bank Certificate as Per DGFT Format or cancelled cheque bearing preprinted name of applicant and account number.

2. Bank Certificate or Cancelled cheque is used to verify that the applicant has an active current account with bank in india

Business Address Proof

1. Document to Support the Business Address submitted in the IE Code application.

2. Sale deed in case business premised is self owned.

3. If the Premised are rented rental agreement or lease deed. along with agreement or deed a copy of latest electricity or telephone bill must be provided

What is required to obtain IE Code License?

All Importers who import goods into India require an IE Code. The IE Code must be quoted while clearing customs. Also, banks require the importers IE Code while sending money abroad.All Exporters who export goods or services from India require an IE Code. The IE Code must be quoted while sending shipments. And banks require the exporters IE Code while receiving money from abroad.

Validity of IE Code License?

An IEC number once allotted, shall be valid for all its branches/divisions/units/factories as indicated in the IEC. While applying for registration, care shall be taken to include all desirable addresses of branches/divisions/units/factories. Address proof for the same would be required. Validity is for life.

Can IEC be hand delivered/ Over the Counter?

No, IEC will be issued in digital format only.

How an applicant NRI can apply for IEC?

NRI has to follow the normal application procedure. In addition permission from RBI/ FIPB is needed in some cases.
